On Tuesday 28th February The Court visited the three Leathersellers Federation of Schools in the London Borough of Lewisham. The day started at Prendergast Vale School where we saw how the “Early Years” were celebrating World Book Day, and then watched the Debating Society tackle an interesting discussion around the merits of fee paying versus state schooling.
From there we travelled to Prendergast Ladywell School where the Master opened the new primary school. Over lunch we met students who were taking part in the BBC news project and also students who had recently visited St Catherine’s College Oxford.
The day concluded with a visited to Prendergast School. We enjoyed a performance by the School Orchestra with a performance by violinist Connie Pharoh and listened to presentations by students and Head teacher Paula Ledger.
Our visit coincided with the inaugural meeting of the Sir John Staples Society which was opened by Lord David Blunkett.
